GEODE Dissemination Events
The GEODE consortium is a catalyst for geothermal innovation that brings together subject-matter experts from the oil and gas (O&G) and geothermal industries to leverage best practices and knowledge from O&G to help expand the use of geothermal technology. As part of that mission, GEODE and its partners will host a series of in-person and virtual events to facilitate the dissemination of geothermal and O&G knowledge. These events, which are free and open to the public, are designed for professionals interested in geothermal and students entering the workforce. The goal is to boost the awareness of geothermal technologies and attract new talent to the field.
These dissemination events will include:
- A series of virtual events, hosted by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), that will feature Webinars with a wide variety of experts discussing the technological challenges facing the industry, and Conversations where experts will discuss the policy, finance, and workforce obstacles that must be overcome as we pave the way toward an energy-abundant future. These events will include Q&A sessions.
- Two Datathons that will provide the next generation of the geothermal workforce with an opportunity to learn from experts by performing real, field-case analyses using shared areas of expertise between the geothermal and O&G communities.
- A virtual workshop titled “Geothermal Subsurface Characterization: Geology and Geophysics Workshop,” hosted by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), designed for students, geoscientists, engineers, and anyone interested in expanding their knowledge of geothermal energy. The workshop will provide hands-on, example-driven sessions to better understand the particularities of geothermal subsurface characterization.
This page will be updated regularly with new events. If you miss one, don’t worry – all events will be recorded, and a link will be provided here to watch them on GEODE’s YouTube channel.
